Practice, Practice, Practice

Slowly but surely my dance is coming together, but I am having a hard time coming up with other moves for my piece.  The way I have being coming up with new step is just turning on some music to dance to and making up the first thing that comes to my mind.  It basically is just me being able to express my movemnet and practice my dancing.  I like it it helps me relax and takes my mind off of everything.

Inspirations

When it comes to dancing and inspirations, I get them from many things such as a shoe, car, commercial, movie,song.  But my biggest influences come from other dancers. I just want to list the dancers that influence me.

Small Misstep

So my collaboration that I was going to have with my dancer friend will have to be put on hold, unfortunately she injured herself while dancing for her company.  This is just a minor bump in the road, but once she has recovered we will start on our collaboration.  In the meantime I might as well start on my first solo piece, I have still yet to decide on a song but I am pretty sure I have it narrowed down to a few songs.  I really like the artist called Drake.  The lyrics in his songs seem to be the easiest to be able to chronograph a dance to.

Colabboration

So  a friend has approached me and was offering to help me with my first piece by doing a collaboration with me.  This sunday we are going to pick a song and she is a contemporary dancer so it is going to be a mix of contemporary and hip-hop.  I have never been so excited and I am so thankful for her help!

Song choice

So my song choice is going to be a lot more difficult than I originally thought.  I assumed I was going to do my first choice which was Rhianna's song but I cant really see any movements that I could choreography to and I also am considering using a Drake song called "Up All Night".  I can see a lot of movements that I could put to the song but I feel that it might be a little too fast pace for me to do my first piece too.

Step One

I have never tried to choreography before so I am basing my process of guessing.  I figure the first step would be choosing a song.  I have a playlist on my Ipod just for songs that I like dancing to so I will pick my song from there.  I recently found a song through a youtube video watching some french twins who are turning to be some big inspirations on my dancing (Twin dancers) the song is called russian roulette by Rhianna.  I have yet to start on working with it.
